2021年在華人的生肖上是牛年，干支纪年上來到了辛丑年。天干的辛為金，故也稱為金牛年。今年結合著牛的特質則有著勤奮、溫和與力量的希望象徵。
在古代流傳的《地母經》中描述2021年的第一句是：太歲辛丑年，疾病稍紛紛。意思今年開始疾病將慢慢消散。全球經歷了2020年疫情的肆虐後，2021年的一開始，在湖裡月光底下休憩的牛隻已準備好帶領著12生肖邁向希望的2021年。
